Colleen Hannon Beeson Cox earned her wings on August 20, 2025 at the age of 89 years, 214 days young.

Born Virginia Colleen Hannon on January 10, 1936 in Belton, Texas to Jack and Mary (Whitley) Hannon.

Colleen married her high school sweetheart, George Beeson on June 10, 1955. They had one daughter, Melinda. They enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting and the great outdoors. George passed away in 1999. They were married 44 years.

Before retiring and moving to Granbury in 2002, she was the secretary to the City Manager of Odessa, Texas for 13 years and had been a legal secretary for many years prior. Colleen was the first switchboard operator for Rexall Chemical Co. in the 1960's, secretary for The American Red Cross in the 1970's, a member of the poetry society, sang in the First Methodist Church Choir and Madrigals. She had been in several productions in Odessa at the Globe Theater of the Great Southwest and the Permian Playhouse. She was a poet, a song writer, pianist, painter and actress. After moving to Granbury, she soon got involved with civic chorus, The Promise in Glen Rose for 5 years, the Melody Belles, Lakeside Baptist Church Choir and the Merry Belles at Lakestone Senior Living. Colleen sang at many weddings of family and friends. She loved performing! She was born to shine!

Colleen attended one of her high school reunions in Belton, Texas, where she reconnected with a classmate, Steve Cox (it was the first reunion he had been to). It didn't take long (6 months!) before they decided to get married on March 2, 2013 at the age of 77. Colleen and Steve took a cruise on the Danube River for their honeymoon and continued traveling as long as they were able. There were married 12 ½ years.

She loved her family and loved being surrounded with family and oh so many friends! Her nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews adored her. She could make any gathering fun. She carried a birthday candle and matches along with a kazoo in her purse for celebrating! She was known to her grand's and great grand's and all their friends as Gran.

She could always find the good in everyday by starting it with a song and saying "It's gonna be a good day!" Then tell you to "stand up tall, take a deep breath, let it out, roll your shoulders, look up and thank the Lord for the life you have and for his Love." Now go out there and pursue your some day's! Colleen leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter.

Colleen was preceded in death by her parents and first husband George.

She is survived by her husband, Stephen Cox; daughter, Melinda (Steve) Lively; grandsons, Matt (Jennifer) Lively and Sam Lively; great-grandchildren, Alyssa Lively, Alexis Lively, Jackson Lively, Mason Nutt and Jacob Lively; brothers, Jimmy (Brenda) Hannon, Gary (Fran) Hannon; sister, Pat (Terry) Camp. Along with many loved nieces and nephews. She will be deeply missed and her absence leaves a hole in the hearts of all that loved her. She touched Life with a loving hand.

Special thanks to all the wonderful loving caring aids at the Courtyards of Lake Granbury and Interim Hospice. We could not have done it all without your love and kindness.
