Colleen P. Pell (Byrne), aged 56, ascended to heaven on Angels wings on January 31, 2024 after a long, courageous battle with breast cancer. Born on May 7, 1967 in Sea Cliff, NY, Colleen was the daughter of John J. and Veronica M. Byrne, both deceased and the youngest of their five children. Colleen was born with Cerebral Palsy and was graduated from the Dr. Henry Viscardi High School in Albertson, NY.
She was predeceased by her husband Paul Pell (October 2018). She is survived by her siblings, Ken Byrne (and wife Susan of Central Lake, MI), Barbara Byrne (Southport, NC) and Maureen Boyle (Wake Forest, NC), nieces Stephanie Amaral-Leslie, Tara Gonzalez, Hannah Byrne, Cait Boyle, and her nephew John C. Byrne. Besides her parents and husband, Colleen was predeceased by her oldest brother Alan (wife Jackie).
Colleen grew up on Long Island where she was an active participant in Long Island Riding for the Handicapped and other athletic activities for the disabled. She moved with her parents to Palm Coast, FL in 1993 and then to Raleigh, NC in the late 1990's then to Painted Post, NY in 2013 after getting married to Paul Pell.
Colleen led a courageous life, conquering many challenges on her journey and touching the hearts of so many along the way.
Our special thanks and appreciation to all of the Nurses, Staff and Volunteers at Hospicare in Ithaca, NY for their selfless and loving compassion and care.
Colleen's Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Mary's Church, 155 State St., Corning on Monday, February 5, 2024 at 9:00 am followed by entombment at St. Mary's Cemetery, Corning. Carpenter's Funeral Home, 14 E. Pulteney St., Corning, NY has been entrusted with Colleen's care.
