Colton D. Bureau, 14, of Apollo, passed away after drowning following a seizure at his favorite fishing spot at Roaring Run on Monday, August 25, 2025 in UPMC Children's Hospital, Pittsburgh.
Born October 27, 2010 in Kittanning, he was a son of Lauren L. (Bureau) Shirley.
Colton was starting his freshman year at Apollo-Ridge High School, and was looking forward to playing defense on the football team.
His passion was the outdoors, as Colton loved fishing, hunting, biking, and riding his side-by-side. He loved being with his family and friends.
Colton was preceded in death by his grandmother, Pamela Bureau; his uncle, Timothy J. Bureau; and his great-grandparents, Felix & Shirley Bureau and Wendell McHaddon.
In addition to his mother, Lauren and her fiancé Jason Cecchini, Colton is survived by his brothers, Owen and Grayson Shirley; grandfather, Timothy L. (Melissa) Bureau; great-grandmother, Joan McHaddon; as well as great-aunts, great-uncles, and a huge circle of friends that will miss Colton greatly.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 28th, 2025 from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Curran-Shaffer Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 100 Owens View Ave., Apollo. Additional visitation will be held in the funeral home on Friday, August 29th, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. until the Celebration Of Life Tribute Service at 11:00 a.m. Please join the family as they honor Colton's life.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Colton's memory to honor his passion for the outdoors to the Roaring Run Watershed Association, PO Box 333, Apollo, PA 15613.
