Obituary published on Legacy.com by Carmon Windsor Funeral Home on Mar. 2, 2024.
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, Concetta Perrotta, who passed peacefully on Wednesday, February 28, 2024. She was just shy of her 97th birthday, and is now reunited with her husband of 72 years, the late Frank Perrotta.
Concetta was born in Cervinara, Italy, the daughter of the late Angelo and Luisa (Lombardi) Viola, and attended local schools. She and Frank were married in Pompeii and they immigrated to the United States in 1951, where they lived in
Troy, NY, and Hartford, before settling in Windsor. Concetta worked in a shirt factory to help support her family until her children were born and she embarked on the career she was most proud of, that of being a mother. When her children were older, she rejoined the work force and was employed at Kimberly Hall as a Certified Nurse Assistant. Concetta saved her money to help fund her lifelong dream of having her own family run restaurant and Concetta's Italian Restaurant was born. She served the Bloomfield and surrounding communities with quality homemade food from her homeland of Italy for over ten years, when she retired and the business was sold in 1994. Her restaurant continued to carry her name for many years after, and only recently closed its doors. In her later years, she used her entrepreneurial skills to develop multiple businesses including using her talents as a seamstress, starting a cleaning business, and a pet grooming business. Her strong work ethic and drive inspired her family to be the best they could be every day.
Concetta was a confident and independent woman with a strong spirit and the true matriarch of her family. She taught her children to be strong and to believe that hard work was required, and rewards would come from that. She instilled in them a strong sense of family and built an unbreakable bond that they have passed on to their own children and grandchildren. Nothing was more important to Concetta than her family and she would do anything for them. She doted on her grandchildren and helped to raise them in any way she could. Concetta always stood up for what she thought was right and just and had no problem with saying what was on her mind. She was honest and direct, and set in her ways, but she had a heart of gold, and everything came from a place of love.
Concetta's was an amazing chef, and her happy place was creating culinary delights and passing her traditions down to her children and grandchildren. Many treasured memories were created, and much love and laughter were shared over a great meal and a nice glass of Vino. Everything she cooked was made from scratch and everyone was welcome in her house to share a meal, and she made the best breads, homemade pasta, polenta, and meatballs, just to name a few. She enjoyed traveling to New York to see her sister-in-law, Irma Inco, and they would have cook-offs to see who made the best Eggplant Parm. Concetta also loved to travel all over, especially back to Italy to visit family, and enjoyed trying her luck on her many trips to the casino with friends and family.
Concetta was the glue that held her family together and she will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Concetta leaves to celebrate her life, her children, Frank Perrotta, Jr. of
Lake George, NY, JoAnn Landry and her husband Gilles of Farmington, Louise Welz and her husband Brian of Calabash, NC, Mary Lazarus and her husband Fred of Weatogue, Anna Russell of Simsbury, Angelo Perrotta and his significant other Kris Jennette of East Granby, and Pasquale Perrotta and his wife Gloria of East Granby; her grandchildren, Burke Perrotta, Jason Landry and his fiancée Jessica Langston, Nicole Burns and her husband Spencer, Marla Cartin, Lindsey Welz and her significant other Mark Delisle, Amanda Northrup and her husband Michael, Rachel Lazarus, Genna Perrotta, and Lexie Perrotta; her great grandchildren, Tanner Burns, Hannah Burns, Ewan Landry, Bella Zannotti, Maddy Zannotti, Raegan Delisle, Ryen Delisle, Paris Rocheleau, and Lily Gilbert; and many special nieces and nephews and friends.
Besides her parents and husband, Concetta is now reunited with her son, Joseph "Joey" Perrotta; her daughter, Irma Perrotta; and her siblings, Maddalena, Diamante, and Giuseppe.
Her funeral service will be private.
Concetta's family would like to extend a very special thank you to the staff at Avon Health Care for their care and compassion.
