Connie L. Bennett, age 78, of Corning, New York, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, July 30, 2025. She was born on December 31, 1946, in Corning, New York, to Clifford and Anna Horton. Connie married Terry Bennett, who preceded her in death.
Connie dedicated 26 years of service to Corning Inc. She was active in her community, serving on the Village of South Corning Board of Trustees for 14 years. She also owned and operated a video store in South Corning for 5 years and worked for many years at Currie Accounting. Additionally, she managed the bookkeeping for both the VFW and the Caton Fire Department. Connie was a proud member of the Corning American Legion.
A lifelong resident of the area, Connie lived at her residence for over 30 years. She was a member of the first graduating class of West High School in 1964 and helped write and publish the first edition of The West Wind, the schools newspaper.
Connie will be remembered as a deeply social person who had many friends and cherished her community connections. She enjoyed camping with her family and spending time with her grandchildren. One of her favorite pastimes was frequenting Keuka and Seneca Lakes and visiting the many local wineries. She was also an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan.
She is survived by her daughter, Tina (Paul) Woodhouse; her son, Jason (Mindy) Strawser; her stepson, Terry Bennett; six beloved grandchildren and first great grandbaby arriving in October 2025.
There will be a private family celebration held at a later date. Carpenters Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements. To plant a beautiful memorial tree in memory of Connie L. Bennett (Horton), please visit our Tree Store.
