Lorraine T. Asiello, age 98, of Painted Post, formerly of Corning, passed away on Wednesday, May 14, 2025 at Elcor. She was born on May 4, 1927 in Hartford, CT, the daughter of the late Ferdinan and Margaret (Campbell) Prince. She married Michael "Larry" Asiello Sr on December 9, 1944. He predeceased her on May 1, 2007.
Lorraine was a communicant of St. Mary's Church, where she sang in the resurrection choir. Lorraine worked at a Torpedo station in Newport, R.I. during World War II. She and many others were honored "World War II Honoree" civilian on the home front. Lorraine was an avid card player, volunteered at Corning Hospital and retired from Community Disposal Service.
She is survived by her son, Michael Asiello Jr, daughter and son-in-law, Carol and John McCoy, 8 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and brother-in-law,, John (Laura Jean) Asiello, several nieces and nephews. Lorraine was predeceased by her son, Albert Asiello, sisters, Madelyn "Pat" Cook and Lucille Aleshire, brothers, Albert Prince and George Maynard, and daughter-in-law, Vivian Asiello.
Family and friends are invited to gather at Carpenter's Funeral Home, 14 East Pulteney Street on Sunday, May 18, 2025 from 2:30 to 4:00 pm. Lorraine's Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday at 10:00 am at St. Mary's Church, 155 State Street, Corning. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Lorraines name may be sent to Carefirst Hospice by going carefirstny.org or Bampa's House by going to bampashouse.org
