Karen Mattison Obituary

The world grew a little dimmer on Sunday, November 2, 2025, when Karen Kay Mattison, 60, of Addison, NY, passed away unexpectedly.
Born in Corning, NY, on February 16, 1965, to Gary Mattison and Darlene Wheeler, Karen was a force of nature, bold, creative, and full of fire. A proud East High School graduate, she worked for the City of Corning DPW and, even after being injured on the job, never let life slow her down.
Karen lived with her whole heart. She was an artist, a dreamer, a music lover, and the kind of woman who could light up a room with her laughter. She loved her 80s rock, blasting AC/DC, Mötley Crüe, and Lynyrd Skynyrd like an anthem to her spirit. Her favorite color was purple, and she wore it like a crown, even in her hair, because Karen never did anything halfway.
She poured her love into everything she touched, her arts and crafts, her crocheting, her brownies and baked goods, her letters and cards, her photos, her faith, and most of all, her family. Her children and grandchildren were her greatest joy, her proudest accomplishment, and the heartbeat of her world.
Karen's faith was her anchor. She attended Gateway Fellowship Church in Addison and loved reading her Bible, finding peace and purpose in every verse. She also found beauty everywhere, in waterfalls, beaches, and quiet moments with her beloved animals, especially her Rottweiler and her cat Ali.
Those who knew Karen will remember her as one of a kind, silly, sweet, strong, and absolutely unforgettable. She made life brighter just by being in it.
Karen is survived by her children and grandchildren, Jasmine Watson and her fiancé Hunter Cummings, Daren Mayo, Claire Mayo, Maverick Cummings, Angela Burdick; Nelayna Robinson, Nikeyin Tuma, Nova Blandford, Jamie Parrillo, Skylah Parrillo, Sparrow Parrillo, and Travis Watson; extended family, and countless friends who adored her.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, November 6, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Coopers Plains Cemetery, Coopers Plains, NY. A Celebration of life will follow at the American Legion in Addison at 2:30 p.m.
Karen's light will never fade, it lives on in the love she gave, the laughter she shared, and the memories she left in every heart she touched.
