Connie Jo Beukema

Connie Jo Beukema (Longstreet) passed away on July 6,2024. She was born to Donald and Johanna Longstreet on February 13, 1950.

Connie was a cherished member of the Beukema and Longstreet families. She was the devoted wife of Kenneth Beukema for 57 years and proud mother of Michael (wife Amy) and Brian (wife Kelly).

Connie (best known as Oma) dedicated her life to her family. She was a devoted loving Oma of 7 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild (Laurel, Lea, Calla, Aaliyah, Banks, Hudson, Ella Rose and Baylor). She was an avid cheerleader of her sons and her grandchildren in all their sports, music, art, and scholastic activities. She loved spending time with her family making sure all of them felt loved, enjoyed, and fed. She was the Holiday Host Extraordinaire with quality feasts adequate to feed an army with leftovers for all. The grandchildren remember her as a nurturing soul with comforting words, engaging stories, and words of encouragement. She loved spending time with them.

Connie was a longtime member of Bradenton Christian Reformed Church, where she served at times in the choir, was a Gems counselor, and was a Fellowship committee member working in the kitchen until health issues denied her those opportunities.

Predeceased by her parents and her brother Donald, Connie's memory will be cherished and kept alive by her husband, Kenneth, her children, grandchildren, sister, Linda and Jim Huizinga; brother, Steve and Mary Longstreet; sisters-in-law, Sue and Ken Cammenga, Jan and Don Tigchelaar, Pat Beukema, and Karen and Denny VanderKooy.

A Memorial Service to celebrate the life of Connie will be held Saturday, August 3, 2024, 11 a.m. at Bradenton Christian Church, 4208 26th Street West, Bradenton, Florida 34205. Following the service, a reception will be held in the church's Family Life Center. Prior to that she will be laid to rest at the Sarasota National Cemetery that will be attended by the immediate family.

Connie is and was tremendously loved and will be profoundly missed, but her memory will continue to guide and inspire her family and all who were blessed to know her and witness her love of her Lord and Savior.
