Connie Lou Sanders Brooks, 75, of Warsaw, Virginia, passed away on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, after a brave and lengthy battle with Alzheimer's Disease. Connie was born in Richmond, Virginia to the late Lester Wainwright Sanders and the late Dorothy Louise Schools Sanders of Warsaw. She was the widow of John Alfred "Dickie" Brooks, Jr. who predeceased Connie after over fifty years of loving marriage. She was a graduate of the Smithdeal Massey Business College and a faithful lifelong member of Cobham Park Baptist Church. Connie was a loving wife, mother, friend, and an exceptional grandmother.
Known for her artistic talents and love of flowers, Connie was an incredibly talented woman who retired from a long career as the lead floral designer at Commonwealth Florist where she brightened many people's special occasions with her floral arrangements. She was devoted to the Cobham Park Church community and served in many leadership roles over the years. She was a lifelong choir member, the Women's Missionary Union leader, Vacation Bible School leader, teacher for the Women's Sunday School Class and head of the flower committee. Connie was an all-around faithful servant at Cobham Park and always ready to lend a hand or an ear to her church family.
Connie loved flowers and took pride tending to her beautiful flower garden. Her proudest accomplishment was her family. She lovingly raised her two daughters, but her most precious role was being Grammy to her four grandchildren. Connie was always there to pick the grandkids up after school and to take them to church on Sunday followed by lunch at their favorite spot, McDonald's. She was the wonderful, loving and selfless matriarch of our family.
Left to cherish Connie's memory are her daughters, Hollie Lewis (John), and Jennie Beck (Jerry Sills); grandchildren: Chandler Jett, Maddie Jett, Ethan Beck, and Ava Beck; her sister-in-law Charlotte Watson (Jr.); and many loving nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Connie's devoted caregivers Megan and Brittany for the kindness and comfort they provided to her.
Welcoming Connie with open arms into Heaven are her husband Dickie; her parents, Wainwright and Dorothy; her stepmother Frances E. Sanders; and her beloved dog Rosco.
A funeral service for Connie will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 2, 2025, at Cobham Park Baptist Church, with the Reverend Keith Williams, Leslie Sanders and Donald Bowen officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Following the service Connie will be laid to rest in the Cobham Park Baptist Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that you honor Connie's lifelong love of and commitment to Cobham Park Church by making a donation in her loving memory to Cobham Park, writing either "Flower Committee" or "W.M.U." in the check's memo line. The address is P.O. Box 306, Warsaw, VA 22572.
