Eloise Anne Rock Taylor, 83, known lovingly to family and friends as "Nuchie," exchanged her earthly life for her Heavenly home on the evening of August 20, 2025. She passed peacefully at home, surrounded by the family she so dearly loved.

Born in Washington, D.C. to the late Willie James Rock and Bertha Iola Balderson Rock, Nuchie was the devoted wife of 58 years to the late Donald Harris Taylor, Sr., until his passing in 2017. She retired after many years of dedicated service from her customer service position at EVB Bank and was a lifelong member of Bethany Baptist Church, where she faithfully served her Lord and her community.

Nuchie was a woman of many gifts, boundless energy, and a heart full of love. She began her career as a seamstress at Levi's before moving into banking, where her warm smile and kindness left a lasting impression on countless customers. Her greatest joys, however, were found in the ways she poured her talents into her family and her church.

A self-taught musician, Nuchie learned to play the piano in her thirties and went on to share her musical gifts with her church as pianist, choir member, and director of many church plays. She taught Sunday school, led Bible study and Vacation Bible School, and lovingly participated in the "tape ministry," ensuring homebound parishioners could still hear the sermon each week. Her faith was lived out daily in service and in love.

At home, Nuchie's joy was her family. She delighted in gathering with them to pick crabs, tend her yard, feed her hummingbirds, or cheer along to Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune, and the Grand Ole Opry. She loved to dance, to travel, and to laugh, whether on cruises, camping trips, or simple afternoons in her home-the true heart of her close-knit family. Above all, Nuchie always put family first, and her love will be felt for generations.

Left to cherish her memory are her son, Don Taylor, Jr. and his wife Gwen; her daughter-in-law, Sarah Walker Taylor; and her beloved grandchildren: Angela Turner (Tim), Tri Taylor (Leslie), Tyler Taylor (Rebecca), Wayne Taylor (Casie), and Eric Taylor (Dawn). She also leaves behind her treasured great-grandchildren: Laynie, Ella Mitchell, and Lawson Turner; Peyton and Emersyn Taylor; Ryleigh Willis, Gwynie and Tyler (Junior) Taylor; Brock and Emilie Taylor; and Eric and Kylie Taylor. In addition, she will be deeply missed by many nieces, nephews, dear friends, and her cherished Bethany Church family.

With gratitude and love, her family also acknowledges her devoted caregiver-friends: Angie Douglas, Alice Swann, and Helen Newsome.

Nuchie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald; her son, Reggie; and all of her siblings: Junior Rock, Leonard Rock, Ronnie Rock, Mary Ellen Butler, and Nancy King.

A funeral service honoring Nuchie's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, August 25, 2025, at her beloved Bethany Baptist Church, with Reverend Kori Kiss officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Her grandsons and great-grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Following the service, she will be laid to rest beside her husband, Donald, in the Bethany Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that you make a donation in Nuchie's loving memory to either Hospice of Virginia or to Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.
