Connie Edwards Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Wiley Funeral Home - Granbury on Dec. 21, 2025.
Connie McGuffie Edwards passed away peacefully in her home on Sunday, December 14, 2025, surrounded by her daughters.
Visitation will be held Friday, January 9, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., and a Memorial Service will take place Saturday, January 10, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Wiley Funeral Home in Granbury, Texas. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made by ordering a memorial tree to be planted in her honor or by making a donation to Special Olympics.
Connie was born on May 22, 1940, in Monongahela, Pennsylvania, to James Edison and Mary Elizabeth McGuffie. Connie is survived by her daughters, Linda Hayes and husband Bruce of Granbury, and Laura Lara and husband Paul of Dallas; her stepson, Brian Edwards and wife Severa of San Antonio; her brother, Tom McGuffie and wife Lyndy of Florida; her sister, Kathy Logue and husband Dennis of Florida; and her brother, Bob McGuffie of West Virginia. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, to whom she was deeply devoted.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Tim Edwards; her daughter, Beth Dozier; and her son-in-law, Steve Dozier.
Connie lived life with remarkable curiosity and courage. An avid traveler, she explored much of the world-visiting more than 40 countries, primarily by cruise. Her adventures included trekking up a mountain to see gorillas, floating in a hot air balloon over Africa, and taking a helicopter ride over an active volcano in Hawaii. She also found great joy closer to home, enjoying golf, bridge, word games, puzzles, and reading. Creative and talented, she sewed, knitted, and crocheted, and she was known as an excellent cook. Connie loved road trips across the country, especially those that allowed her to visit baseball stadiums. A devoted Texas Rangers fan, she could often be found handing out promotional items at the gate alongside her daughter Linda and fellow members of the Texas Rangers Women's Club.
A self-made businesswoman, Connie owned and operated multiple H&R Block franchises during a successful career spanning more than 40 years. Her strong work ethic and dedication were evident as she continued working until her retirement at the age of 80. Generous by nature, Connie quietly gave both her time and financial support to many charitable organizations. She also shared her leadership through faithful service to her church, including work with the financial committee, Sunday school, and other ministries, as well as with her daughters' Girl Scout troop and band booster organizations. She believed deeply in giving back and serving others. Above all, Connie was devoted to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a constant presence at baseball, basketball, and football games; dance recitals; band concerts; college parent weekends; graduations; weddings; and baby showers. She created countless special memories with them, including a week-long trip to Texas Rangers Spring Training, a trip to Disney World, and many other meaningful adventures they will cherish forever.
Connie will be remembered for her independence, determination, love of adventure, generosity, leadership, and deep devotion to her family. Her life was one of purpose, resilience, and love, and she will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
