Connie Roberta Hefner, 72, of Wabash, Indiana, formerly of Denver, Indiana, died at 11:20 am, Thursday, August 29, 2024, at Autumn Ridge Rehabilitation Center in Wabash. She was born on September 14, 1951, in Hartford City, Indiana, to Ralph "Lloyd" and Venola Marie (Sypolt) Slater.
Connie was a 1969 graduate of Huntington High School. She married Jay Richard Hefner in Huntington, Indiana on September 27, 1969. Connie was the secretary at the Mexico Church of the Brethren, retiring after several years. She was a longtime realtor, and also sold Avon, Shackley, Amway, Tupperware, and Longenberger baskets. She was a member of the Mexico Church of the Brethren, and Order of the Eastern Star. Connie enjoyed painting, reading, knitting, quilting, and collecting comic books.
She is survived by her husband, Jay Richard Hefner of Markle, Indiana; three children, Jason Hefner of Lafayette, Indiana, Heather Schirtzinger of Pace, Florida, and Halloran "Hallie" Banks of Denver; four grandchildren, Christianna Hefner, Amanda (Mathew) Minor, Jessica Hefner, Phallon Banks. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her sister, Rita Slater.
Funeral services will be 2:00 pm, Wednesday, September 4, 2024, at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Avenue, Wabash. Burial will be in Lancaster Cemetery, Lancaster, Indiana. Friends may call 12:30 - 2:00 pm Wednesday, at the funeral home.
Preferred memorial is St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
