Connie Leming Obituary

Connie Whatley Leming passed away peacefully on February 5, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, partner, sister, great-aunt, and friend whose strength and unconditional love defined her life.

She shared a beautiful marriage with David “Dave” Leming until his passing in February 1999. Their life together was rooted in deep love, adventure, and enjoying every moment as a family.

In the years that followed, she spent 25 years alongside her devoted partner, Thomas “Smitty” Smith, a longtime family friend who had known both her and Dave for many years. Their relationship was grounded in commitment, shared laughter, and lasting companionship.

She was the proud and devoted mother of Rachel Leming and the loving grandmother of Dallas Trent Webb. Her family was her world. She embraced Rachel’s partner of nine years, Barry Britton, as one of her own and was deeply grateful for the love and steady support he has given to her daughter and to their entire family. She adored her granddaughter and warmly welcomed Chelsea Webb into the family. She found great joy in caring for her two beloved great-grandpups, Brinlee and Dolly, who brought her constant joy.

She is survived by her sister, Tina Campbell, and brother-in-law, John Campbell, who shared a lifelong friendship with Connie and Dave. Tina has been more than a sister and has been a steady source of strength, support, and love. She also leaves behind her cherished great-niece, Alyx Webb, who held a special place in her heart.

She was preceded in death by her husband, David “Dave” Leming; her parents, Preston and Jane Whatley; and her beloved niece, Cassondra Webb.

She didn’t just love her family; she loved people. Anyone who met her felt seen, welcomed, and valued. She will be remembered for her fierce independence, her quiet strength, and the way she loved fully, freely, and without judgment. She believed in giving people grace and always wanted the very best for those she cared about. That legacy of unconditional love, resilience, and loyalty will continue to live on in the family she cherished so deeply.

A visitation in celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, February 28th, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Hamilton Funeral Home, 4506 Hixson Pike.
