Connie Mintegui passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 29, surrounded by the love of her family. She was a radiant light in the lives of all who knew her-her unforgettable smile, warmth, and boundless positivity left a lasting mark on everyone she met.
Born in Pico, Azores to Jose and Maria Simas, Connie and her family came to the United States when she was 15, where she built a beautiful life defined by love, hard work, and strong family values. Connie often spoke with deep pride and gratitude about her parents, whose love, integrity, and example helped shape the lives and values of their children.
Connie became a gifted hairdresser, and her clients often said the same thing: they didn't just leave with great hair, they left feeling better about themselves thanks to Connie's infectious energy and smile. In previous years, Michael Anthony's Salon was often filled with the warm laughter of the three sisters, Mary, Connie, and Fernanda, while Connie did their hair and they spent the afternoon together. Connie's special bond with all of her siblings was a cherished part of her daily life. She and older brother Manuel shared a love of traveling, especially to Lake Almanor, creating lasting memories with their families. After the passing of her older brother and sisters, Connie continued to share a close bond with her younger brother, Joe, enjoying time spent together over a cup of coffee, a San Jose Earthquakes game, or continuing the 4th of July tradition in Lake Almanor.
Connie is survived by her devoted husband, Angel Luis Mintegui, and her three sons: Demetrios (Tiki) Tsakiris and wife Patty, Michael Tsakiris and wife Sharon and Shaun Tsakiris and wife Nyssa, brother Joe Simas and wife Delia. Being a proud and present grandmother to her six grandchildren, Athena, Alexis, Mikey, Niko, Kai, and Mateo, was one of her greatest joys. She treasured every moment with her grandchildren, especially cheering from the sidelines at their soccer games and surrounding them with love.
She and Luis shared a joyful passion for tennis-both playing and watching-and Connie's love language was unmistakably food and hosting people in her home. She was an extraordinary cook who found joy in gathering people around her table, sharing not just meals but memorable moments.
To know Connie was to feel welcomed, loved, and valued. She was truly one of a kind, leaving behind a legacy of love and joy in the hearts of all who knew her.
Services will be held at Sacred Heart Church, 13716 Saratoga Avenue
Saratoga, CA on Saturday, June 28 at 10:00 am. A Celebration of Life will follow at the Mintegui home.

To Connie´s loving family,
We send our deepest sympathies to a life of Connie cut too short. She was a dear friend, wife and mother to many. She always made room at her table if you happened in! The world is a bit sadder without her LOVING light!
