Connie L. (Snelling) Nifong, age 73 of Utica, passed away on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, with her loving family at her side. Born in Jeffersonville to the late Donald and Norma Mae (Smith) Snelling, Connie was a woman whose life was defined by love, service, and joyful generosity.
For over 25 years, Connie worked as a supply clerk at Clark Memorial Hospital, where her dependable spirit, warm smile, and servant's heart touched countless lives. Whether she was tending to the needs of staff or comforting patients in small but meaningful ways, Connie always found a way to give of herself. A true caregiver at heart, Connie devoted much of her time to serving her community. For more than thirty magical years, she and her beloved husband, Dale, delighted children and families as Mr. & Mrs. Claus, bringing smiles, laughter, and Christmas wonder everywhere they went. She volunteered faithfully for Dare to Care, always seeking to lift others up and give back to the town she cherished.
Connie loved simple joys: feeling the sun and river breeze while boating, friendly competition at the bowling alley, and cheering passionately for IU Basketball. But her greatest joy in life-her proudest role-was that of Wife, Mom, and Maw Maw. She adored her grandchildren and never missed a sporting event, no matter the season or weather. Whether it was football, wrestling, or basketball, if her family was on the field or court, Connie was in the stands-cheering loudly, smiling proudly, and encouraging everyone around her. Her unwavering support and joyful presence created memories that will be held close forever. Connie was devoted to the Hallmark Channel and watched Christmas movies ALL YEAR LONG. Her laughter was contagious, her hugs comforting, and her heart wide open. From quiet moments of cuddling with her sweet dog, Misty Mae, to loud, laughter-filled family gatherings, Connie treasured every second spent with those she loved. She was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Karen Nifong.
Connie is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Dale E. Nifong, Sr. of Utica; her sons, Dale Nifong, Jr. of Georgetown and Michael Scott (Beth) Nifong of Utica; her sister, Linda Nifong; and her brother, Mark (Susan) Snelling. She cherished her grandchildren: Joven Ginkins, Tanner (Bella) Nifong, Brenden (Mattea) Nifong, Jennifer Crosby, Anthony (Jessica) Holloway, and Hannah (Shawn) Nifong; and her fifteen beloved great-grandchildren: Gabby, Carter, Elijah, Kobe, Xavier, Kooper, Greyson, Jaxon, Maverik, Theo, Gianna, Baylor, Aila, Callum, and Oaklynn; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at Scott Funeral Home (2515 Veterans Parkway, Jeffersonville), officiated by Pastor Jeremy Neff. Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM until the service time on Saturday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the SOS Food Bank for Dare to Care, an organization close to Connie's heart.
Connie lived a life of joyful purpose-giving, serving, and loving without hesitation. Her legacy continues in the countless hearts she touched and in the family she adored above all else.
Utica will never be the same. Her devotion will ever be missed by her neighbors and friends. May her light continue to shine through each act of kindness done in her memory.
