Everett A. Deckard Sr., 81, of Clarksville, Indiana, passed away peacefully on November 6, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on June 11, 1944, Everett lived a life marked by kindness, hard work, and a deep appreciation for the simple joys that made each day meaningful.
Everett's love for the outdoors was reflected in his passion for farming, a labor of love that brought him both peace and purpose. When he wasn't tending to his land, he could often be found on the golf course, sharing laughter and friendly competition with those lucky enough to call him a friend. A proud supporter of Indiana University Basketball, Everett never missed a chance to cheer on his Hoosiers.
A man who never met a stranger, Everett's warmth and generosity touched everyone he encountered. His compassion extended to all living things-he had a special place in his heart for animals and was rarely seen without his loyal companions, Sadie, Katie, and Charlie, by his side.
Everett was a man of great integrity and dedication. He enjoyed a long and successful career as Chief Financial Officer of International Harvesters before retiring and embarking on a new chapter with his beloved wife, Carole, as they opened their own records management business together.
Above all, Everett's greatest pride and joy was his family. He was a devoted husband, a loving father and grandfather, and a steadfast friend. His laughter, guidance, and unwavering love will forever remain in the hearts of those he leaves behind.
Everett is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Carole; his children, Ann Ward (Lee) and Everett Deckard Jr. (Shelley); his grandchildren, Jonathan (Heather), Joshua, Everett III (Shy'leah), Cody (Britny), and Emily (Brandon); and his six great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings, Rebecca Worth and Tilmon Deckard (Cynthia), along with his cherished pets, Sadie, Katie, and Charlie.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marion and Dolores Deckard, and his sister, Elizabeth Deckard.
The Deckard family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the wonderful neighbors and friends who supported Everett and Carole during his time of need, and a special thanks to Wedgewood Healthcare for the loving care and compassion shown to Everett.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 16, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at Scott Funeral Home, 2515 Veterans Parkway, Jeffersonville, Indiana 47130. A Celebration of Life will begin at 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home, where family and friends will gather to honor a life so well lived.
Everett will be remembered for his steadfast faith, his humor, his kindness, and the way he made everyone feel like family. His legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
