Mrs. Connie Lynn Pond, age 60, passed away peacefully on January 19, 2023, surrounded by family after a long and difficult battle with Metastatic Breast Cancer. Connie Pond was born on March 25, 1962 and committed herself to helping and inspiring others. She spent many years working in banking before she graduated from Virginia Wesleyan College and found a deep love for helping and serving others in social services. Connie spent 15 years working for Isle of Wight Social services before taking a supervisor position at Chesterfield Social Services, which is where she ultimately retired from after 5.5 years to care for her mother and to spend time with her family.
Connie played the flute and the piccolo and loved music! She was an active member of the Licking County 4H Band growing up and she enjoyed going to concerts, plays, and watching marching bands perform. You could always find her scrapbooking and crocheting, and she loved riding in the golf cart with her husband Richie. She was also known to catch a fish or two that were bigger than his out on the James River! She loved spending time with her family and her grandchildren meant so much to her. She loved the beach, theme parks and would often get in trouble at work for laughing a little too loud!
She is survived by her husband Richie Pond, her brothers, Jon (Helen) Furbee and Dan Furbee and her sister Elaina Furbee (Ryan); brother in law, Chris Pond; her children, Tammara (Kenny) Edwards, Sharon (Chase) Hundley and Sammantha Pond; her grandchildren, Gareth Edwards, Aislinn Edwards, Athena Edwards and Ava Hundley; her nieces and nephews, Caleb Furbee, Jacob Furbee, Zion Orme-Furbee, Zara Orme-Furbee, Shane Pond and Timothy Pond; and her mother in law Frances Byrum, all of whom will continue to honor her legacy by extending love and kindness to others.
Connie was preceded in death by her mother, Brenda Oiler, and her stepfather Harley Oiler; her father, Dean Furbee, and stepmother, Beth Furbee; her siblings, Cheryl Furbee and Robert 'Bo' Furbee.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, January 30, 2023, at 2:00 pm at Waverly United Methodist Church 138 Coppahaunk Ave, Waverly, VA 23890 with a reception to follow. Burial will be private.
Gareth, Aislinn, Athena and Kenny Edwards, Ava and Chase Hundley, Caleb, Jacob and Jon Furbee, Zion and Zara Orme-Furbee will serve as honorary pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be submitted to Waverly United Methodist Church PO Box 12 Waverly, VA 23890.
The family would like to thank Hospice of Virginia for all of the special care and love provided during her time of need and contributions may be made to the Hope Foundation, and mail to: Addus – Hospice Division 3021 Lorna Road, Suite 200, Birmingham, AL 35216.
