Herman Stuart Cooper

Herman S. Cooper 85, of Chester, VA passed away on August 12, 2025. He is preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Luna Scarborough Cooper and grandson, Tyler Rex Gard.
Herman attended Milligan University, William & Mary, and Ferrum College. He went on to become a psychologist specializing in vocational therapy at Central State. Over the years, Herman was actively involved in his community and was a dedicated member of numerous organizations, including the Colonial Heights Lions Club, the Moose Club, the Petersburg Jaycees, Carsley United Methodist Church, and the Savage Hunt Club. He also served as President of the Colonial Heights Homeowners Association.
A passionate NASCAR fan, Herman brought the same energy and drive to his entrepreneurial ventures, successfully launching several businesses throughout his life.
He is survived by his daughter, Anita Cooper; faithful companion and fur baby, Pepi Sue Cooper; granddaughters, Kristin Williams (Matt) and Jessica Shuman (Rick); great grandchildren, Ethan Williams, Kinsley Williams, and Cooper Shuman.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2025 at 2 PM at R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home, Wakefield Chapel. 11414 General Mahone Hwy. Visitation will be held an hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Carsley United Methodist Church, C/O Letha Hite, 2943 Huntington Rd., Spring Grove, Virginia 23881.
