Connie Sue (Brown) Spidle, 67, of Macon, MO, passed away on Thursday, May 8, 2025, at 8:30 am surrounded by her family at her home.
Connie was born on April 29, 1958, in Macon, MO, the daughter of William "Bill" and Theola "Fern" (Allen) Brown.
Connie enjoyed traveling, especially to Branson, Missouri to attend gospel and country music concerts and the attractions there. She liked mini golf, which she was pretty good at and was always up for a quick trip to the casino. Her biggest hobby was attending auctions and garage sales, with her son Sam, to find treasures to resale online. She enjoyed putting together and collecting puzzles and was a big collector of cat figurines. Connie worked for 25 years at Toastmaster in Macon, where she befriended a lady named Becky Spidle, who introduced her to her little brother Mark, and soon the two of them were married. From their union came their only son, Sam, who became the center of their world. She worked another 25 years for Walmart in Macon, in the electronics department, retiring from there on December 31st of 2024. Connie met Glenn Mitts, her companion of 8 years until he passed in May of 2024, and the two of them enjoyed attending auctions and traveling the state together. Connie loved her entire family with all her heart. Her quiet nature, easy sense of humor and fierce loyalty helped her to be a good wife and companion; a wonderful mother, mother-in-law and grandparent; a loving daughter and sibling; a steadfast friend to so many of us. When Connie smiled, she sparkled and her spirited light will be missed greatly.
Connie is survived by her son Sam and his wife DeDe of Macon; one sister, Kathy Slover and her husband Walter Jr. of Macon, MO; two grandchildren, DeHanna Smith and Jaylenne Shrum, both of Moberly, MO; and one great-grandson, Salem Shrum.
She was preceded in death by her husband Mark on October 18, 2013, her parents; two sisters, Janice Brown and Carrie Brown; three brothers, Kenneth Brown, Paul Brown, and Philip Brown, her companion of eight years, Glenn Mitts, her maternal grandparents Ross and Lester Allen, her paternal grandparents, Russell Sr. and Ruby Brown, step grandfather, Everett Andrews, and one nephew Robert Slover.
Funeral service will be 1:00 pm, Monday, May 12, 2025 at the Hutton & McElwain Funeral Home in Macon, MO. Visitation will be Monday from 11:00 am, until the time of the service, at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Mount Salem Cemetery in Excello, MO. The family suggests memorials to the Randy Johnson Memorial Foundation.
