Conrad Joseph "C.J." Oberst, 88, passed away at The Willows at Springhurst on Wednesday, December 3, 2025.
C.J. was born on November 12, 1937, in Louisville to the late John, Sr. and M. Constance (Rapp) Oberst. After high school he proudly joined the United States Army. Following his service, he attended Bellarmine University, then founded Oberst Nursery and Landscaping Company, which he owned and operated for over 40 years. He enjoyed golf and tennis and was an avid deer hunter and fisherman. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, the Leprechauns, where he was the slush-making bartender, and The Kentucky Nurseryman's Association.
In addition to his parents, C.J. was preceded in death by his brothers, John, Jr. and Norman Oberst. He is survived by his wife, Suzanne (Brandt) Oberst; daughters, Theresa Hooker (Eddie), Mary Baskett (Gary), and Ellen Oberst; step-sons, Jeffrey Zick (Adriana), Tim Zick (Katie Odell), and Michael Zick (Wenda); brothers, Charles and Mark Oberst; 18 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren.
Memorial visitation will be Saturday, December 13, 2025, from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 1000 N. Beckley Station Rd. 40245. A Memorial Mass will follow at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Ratterman Brothers Funeral Home East Louisville is in charge of arrangements.

at Ft Riley, Kansas at the same time.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the family.
