Conrad “Ric” Lewis Carroll, age 78, born in Hinton, West Virginia and a resident of Ocean Springs, MS., passed away on Tuesday, May 30, 2023, in Ocean Springs.
Ric, a U. S. Air Force Veteran of the Vietnam War, served his country proudly for 20 years before retiring and hiring in with the U.S. Postal Service. He ran the same route for all the 26 years that he worked there and made many, many friends on his route. They all lovingly referred to him as Mailman “Ric”. His favorite job however was being an umpire for St. Martin Baseball League for 40 years. You knew from March through May where he was going to be. He loved seeing year after year 4 generations grow up on the baseball fields. He was kind, positive, uplifting and always with words of encouragement. He never let anyone rattle his cage. Besides baseball, he loved playing darts with friends, singing karaoke, watching all sports including baseball, golf, wrestling and Nascar. He was loving referred to as “PA” by his grandchildren and loved attending his grandchildren’s activities. When having a bad day, PA would tell them, “Keep your head up”, “Life is too short to not find a reason to smile” and then he would give them a big old kiss on the forehead. He will be forever loved and deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Lena Mae Carroll; and his parents Mr. and Mrs. Marion Carroll.
He is survived by his daughter, Cindy Lynnette Baughman (Toby); his son, Richard Marion Carroll (Erica); his sister Annie O’Dell; his five grandchildren, Brooke Lewis, Christopher Baughman (Julia),
Christina Carroll, Lauren Carroll, and Zarion Carroll; and his nine great-grandchildren, Madelyn Clifton, Hazel Grace Lewis, Aspen Baughman, Ayla Baughman, Jayson Carroll, Justin Carroll, Jr., Kegan Carroll, Kallie Mae Carroll, Kahlil McNaughton.
