Conrad Stodgell Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Laird-Eddy Funeral Home on Sep. 25, 2025.
Conrad "Connie" Dean Stodgell, 77, of Amboy, IN, passed away early Thursday morning, September 25, 2025, at Community Hospital North in Indianapolis. He was born in Kokomo, IN, on November 4, 1947, the son of Clayton and Okla Sommers Stodgell. Conrad married Eileen Ackerland on August 1, 1968 and she survives. Conrad was a 1966 graduate of Maconaquah High School and a US Air Force Vietnam Veteran. His military decorations include the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Commendation Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal, and Air Force Good Conduct Medal. Conrad attended the Family Fellowship Church of God and was a retired Chrysler employee. Conrad also worked for his brother Jack, at Stodgell Construction, along with his nephew Terry Stodgell great-nephew Chad Stodgell. His most treasure role was serving his family as a devoted husband to his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and he will be dearly missed by all who loved him. Conrad enjoyed camping and took great pleasure in taking his grandkids on numerous outings. He and his wife Eileen spent many years traveling throughout the United States. Conrad will be remembered for his daily routine cruising around North Grove in his golf cart. An avid fan of western shows, Conrad was particularly fond of Gunsmoke, always watching with his loyal dog Pepper, who would greet him when he walked into the room. Conrad is survived by his wife, Eileen; daughters Sheryl Curtis of DeLand, FL. and her children Erica ( Scott) Hawkins, Carrie Adams, and Briana (Michael) Gustin; Constance (Reuben) Sumpter of Peru and their children Nathanael Sumpter, Olivia (Eric) Nicholsen, Russell Sumpter, and Sara Sumpter; and Jennifer (Rodney) Stoll of Peru and their children Riley (Bobbie) Stoll, Jacob Stoll, and Elizabeth Stoll; a sister Beverly Bennett of Columbia City, IN; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers Jack and Eddie Stodgell. A service celebrating the life of Conrad Dean Stodgell will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, September 29, 2025, at the Laird-Eddy Funeral Home, 201 N. Main St. Amboy, IN, with Pastor Rod Correll officiating. Burial will be at Park Lawn Cemetery, Amboy, IN, with Military Honors provided by the Miami County Military Rites Unit. Family and friends will gather from 2:00-5:00 PM, Sunday, September 28, 2025, at the Laird Eddy Funeral Home.
