Constance Nyerges Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Palmer Funeral Homes - Welsheimer Chapel-North on Feb. 2, 2025.
Constance J. "Connie" Nyerges, passed away on January 31, 2025, in her hometown of South Bend, where she was also born on June 17, 1935.
Connie was the beloved daughter of the late Gus and Ida (Smith) Morton. Her life was enriched by her devoted husband of 68 years, George A. Nyerges, with whom she shared a beautiful journey filled with laughter and love. Together, they raised a family that included their daughters, Terri Bazyk and Sheree Nyerges, who will forever cherish their mother's memory. Connie's joy was multiplied with the arrival of her three grandchildren, Jesse, Kyle, and Wyatt, and she was blessed with the gift of her great-grandchild, Margot. Her family was her pride and joy, and she nurtured them with the same love and care she extended to everyone she met.
Though she was preceded in death by her son, Alan D. Nyerges, and her brothers, Dale and Bill Morton, and her son-in-law, Randy Bazyk, Connie's spirit of resilience and her capacity for love never wavered. She was a dedicated homemaker, creating a warm and welcoming home that was the heart of many family gatherings and celebrations.
Connie's commitment to her community was evident through her remarkable 35 years of volunteer service with hospice, where she provided comfort and support to countless individuals and their families during their most challenging times. Her selflessness and compassion made a profound impact on the lives she touched.
Her creative spirit shone brightly through her hobbies. Connie had a passion for auctions, ceramics, and took painting classes with her daughter.
Travel was another of Connie's joys, and she relished the opportunity to explore new places. Her adventures took her to the vibrant music scene of Nashville, the sunny shores of California, and the tropical paradise of Jamaica. At home, she found pleasure in the simple things, like listening to country music and engaging in the quiet contemplation of puzzle-solving.
Friends may visit with the family from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 6, 2025 at Palmer Funeral Home – Welsheimer North Chapel with funeral services beginning at 3:00 p.m. Connie will be laid to rest in a private ceremony at Saint Joseph Valley Memorial Park.
