Cora Eileen Husted of Elida, NM passed from this age into the next to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on September 28, 2024, in Portales, NM. Eileen was born in Clovis, NM on May 20, 1950 to James Finis and Grace E Cannon. Eileen graduated from Elida High School in 1968. At that time a new United Methodist pastor moved across the street named Andrew Claron Husted. Eileen was asked by her father to go and help Andrew with cooking and cleaning, and they hit it off. Eileen and Andrew married on April 6, 1969, and were married for 44 years until Andrew passed in 2013.
Some of her greatest memories were from the days when Andrew and she had a dairy north of Elida while Andrew served as a part time pastor. While working on the dairy she was joined by her beloved sister Debby Cannon. Eileen's main job at the dairy was to look after the calves. She loved the cows and even named them all. After the life on the dairy, Andrew became a full time minister. As a pastor's wife she always shared in the life of the church through volunteering in VBS, Youth Sponsor, UMW, working in the church office as Andrews Administrative Assistant and serving on various committees in the church.
From that marriage, Eileen realized one of her greatest desires of being a mother by giving birth to 4 children: Heath Andrew, Travis Quienten, Heather Eilleen Grace, and Rusty Lyn. She poured herself into whatever her kids were interested in whether it was Sports, FFA, Band, or Choir she was there for it all.
She was the life of the party in any room, and she never knew a stranger. No matter who Eileen loved she loved BIG! Her biological children were not the only ones who called her mom. She was a mom to so many. Being a mom was what she did best. She raised her own children and others to come to faith in Jesus Christ.
She became a mother-in-law when Heath married Pam and Rusty married Jessica. She graduated to being a grandma. When Heath and Pam gave her Andrew Jon, William James, & Grayson Adam Cannon. And Rusty and Jessica gave her Anna Claron and Judah Benjamin. Being a grandmother, Eileen again shined as a loving caregiver. Telling people about her grandchildren was in every conversation she had with others.
Eileen was proceeded in death by her mother and father, her husband, oldest son Heath, 1 brother Finis Quienten, 2 sisters Patsy Ann and Glenda Rae.
