Cora Lee Daugherty, born on June 10, 1952, passed away on July 1, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love and memories. An embodiment of kindness and joy, Cora Lee was a light to everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.
Cora Lee is preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and Lucille Rainey; daughter, Jennifer Daugherty; in-laws, Ernest and Katherine Marie Daugherty; and half-sisters, Edna Morris and Catherine Briggs.
Cora Lee is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Ernie Daugherty; grandson, Wyatt Holmes (Madison); great-grandchildren, Jennilynn Holmes, Marshall Holmes, and Deacon Holmes; sisters, Martha Moody (Clifford), Jean Rainey, and May Connor (Wayne); nieces and nephews, Sherry Anglin, Robin Kersting (Glen), Brandon Anglin, Zach Kersting, and Nikki Kersting.
She was a proud graduate of Fairview High School, where her spirit brought joy to both friends and family. After high school, she worked another job before finding her home at the State of Tennessee finance administration, where she retired many years later. She cherished evenings spent diving into the pages of her favorite books and all the adventures that awaited her. Whether it was exploring new worlds or uncovering hidden mysteries, Cora Lee adored the escape that reading provided.
Her love for television brought another layer of enjoyment to her life as she often found herself enchanted by her favorite shows. Her heart resonated with the thrill of discovery at flea markets and junk stores. Each visit was a treasure hunt, constantly finding new riches to display.
However, Cora Lee’s proudest accomplishments were undoubtedly the precious moments spent with her grandson and great grandkids. Their laughter filled her home, and their joy ignited her spirit. Cora Lee reveled in being a guiding light in their lives, nurturing them with wisdom, compassion, and love. Each visit was cherished, and each hug was a testament to the bonds that can only be forged through the love of a grandmother.
