He was born on August 19, 1971in Austell, GA and was reared in Tampa, FL. He moved to Glennville in 1994 where he met his wife, April. Nineteen years ago they made their home in Statesboro. Corey brought joy and laughter to all who knew him. He walked through life with a warm smile and a heart that never met a stranger. For the past 10 years, Corey made a significant impact at Georgia Southern University, where he worked diligently as an IT Support Analyst. His problem-solving skills and approachable demeanor made him a treasured colleague and friend. In addition to his professional life, Corey was a talented bass guitar player for The Wild Card Band. His love for music resonated not only in his performances but also in his deep appreciation of harmony in all aspects of life. Corey’s family life was filled with beautiful memories, particularly the cherished moments spent with April. Together, they celebrated anniversaries and birthdays at Treasure Island Beach in Florida, creating traditions that would last a lifetime. Known for his culinary prowess, Corey took immense pride in cooking, especially his famously delicious lasagna. Graduating from Gaither High School in Tampa in 1989, Corey carried with him the spirit of camaraderie and laughter throughout his life. He had a playful side that shone through his love for telling corny Dad jokes, always eager to make others smile. A staunch fan of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, his spirited enthusiasm for the game was contagious, bringing the same joy he found at home to gatherings with friends. Beyond his professional and musical achievements, Corey was a member of the First Baptist Church of Statesboro, where he once played in the orchestra, embracing both faith and fellowship. His kindness and positivity were felt by many, leaving a lasting impression on each person fortunate enough to cross his path. Corey is preceded in death by his step father, Bill Forsyth and his father in law, Danny Blocker.
