Larry G. Taylor, Sr. age 82, passed away Sunday, October 26, 2025 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
After growing up in the mountains of Tennessee and North Carolina he moved to Atlanta and started driving tractor trailers. He was a career truck driver with over 35 years of safe driving.
It was after a move to Fayetteville that he met the love of his life, Barbara. After a short courtship, he was able to marry and remained so for over 44 years. They made their home in Glennville in 2013.
As a husband and father, he raised 3 kids and took care of his elderly mother. If nothing else, Larry was the definition of a family man, husband, father and provider.
Larry was an avid football and drag racing fan. He attended the drag races as often as possible to root on family and friends.
With a heart of gold and a soul even Jesus could not wait any longer to call home. He will truly be missed by everyone who had the privilege to get to know him.
Larry was a member of the Glennville United Pentecostal Church and is preceded in death by his parents, Hoyt and Lorene Thelma Briggs Taylor; his siblings, Hoyt Taylor, Jr. and Truedica Moore.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Barbara Driggers Taylor; his children, Monica (Spencer) Minor of Newnan, Larry (Michele) Taylor, Jr. of Locus Grove, Bryan (Ashley) Taylor of Newnan; brothers, Maxie (Shelba Jean) Taylor of Rocky Face, GA and Doug (Linda) Taylor of Phoenix, AZ; special brother and sister, Gary Driggers and Joyce Barlett both of Glennville; 5 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends beginning at 6:00pm on Wednesday, October 29, 2025 at the funeral home. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00pm Thursday, October 30, 2025 from the Chapel of the Glennville Funeral Home with Reverend Brad Pickren officiating.
