NOLDEN, Mr. Corey W. - Age 56, passed away on October 9, 2025, at his residence. Family hour 10:30 AM Saturday, October 25, 2025, from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM. Pastor Michael Lewis, officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home at 10:30 AM Saturday. Mr. Nolden will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd. and may be viewed from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM Friday, with family present from 4PM-6PM.
Corey W. Nolden was called home on Thursday, October 9, 2025. He was born on November 14, 1968, to Mr. Willie (Sokita) Nolden Jr. and Judith "Chick" Jones-Nolden.
Corey graduated from Flint Academy in 1986 and later attended Mott Community College and the University of the District of Columbia. From a young age, Corey displayed a remarkable talent for the arts. He was a creative genius and a musical whiz, immersing himself in music and performance early in life.
Corey was a founding member of the rap group The Connoisseurs of Groove (C.O.G.). Their music was featured on numerous radio stations, and the group toured many cities. Their success ultimately led to one of their songs making it onto the Billboard Hot 100 charts.
In addition to his musical talents, Corey loved everything related to electronics. He developed skills in lighting, sound engineering, and stage production, becoming a true behind-the-scenes force. Corey had a natural gift for bringing plays and productions to life. He could run an entire show with ease - he was just that good.
Corey was also a man of strong faith. He was an avid Bible reader, interpreter, and a firm believer in God's Word. On any given day, you could hear him confidently say, "I'm covered by the blood." He said it often - because he truly believed it.
Corey W. Nolden leaves to cherish his memory his loving mother, Judith A. "Chick" Nolden; brother, Anthony Cobbin; and daughter, Capri Jackson. He will also be lovingly remembered by his special nephews, Darnell Jones and Anthony Torns; nieces, Tiona (Billie) Southall and Toni Cobbin; 11 additional nieces and nephews; and special friends, Michael Lewis, Michael Brown, Wee Gee, Corey Wilson, Ant Lew, Jason Wyatt, and Tameka McMillan, Simona (Peaches) Spearman; 2 uncles, Jamar McKenzie and Sam Dupree; a host of other relatives and friend.
Corey was preceded in death by his father, Willie (Sokita) Nolden; brother, Bryant "B.B." Nolden; grandparents, Edna Skinner-Hudson, Solomon and Williebell Jones; aunts, Shirley Murray, Lucille McMullan, Roxanne Pringle, and Earlene Deshazor; uncles, William Jones and Harold W. Murray; cousins, Otto "Scrubby" Brown III, Walter McMullan Jr., Harold Murray Jr.; and nephew, Terell Jones.
Corey was loved deeply by all of his family including, the Muray, McMullan, Skinner, Joyce, Hawkins, Pippens and Winfrey families.
