Mrs. Judith Ann "Chick" Nolden

NOLDEN, Mrs. Judith Ann "Chick" - Age 85, passed away Monday, January 12, 2026 in Burton, MI. Family hour 1:30 PM Saturday, January 24, 2026, from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with memorial service commencing at 2:00 PM. Pastor Michael Lewis, Officiating. Friends and family will assemble at the funeral home 1:30 PM Saturday.

Judith Ann Nolden "Chick Jones" was born April 3, 1940. She transitioned from this earth January 12, 2026. She was born to Soloman and Willie Belle Jones. She was the sixth child of this union. She attended Flint Community Schools and graduated in 1957 from Flint Central High School. She worked there for a period before marrying Willie (Sokita) Nolden Jr. Two children were born to this union, Bryant W. Nolden and Corey W. Nolden. She received a bonus son, Anthony (Tony) Cobbin. This marriage continued for the next 46 ½ years, ending with the death of her husband Sokita, in 2008.

Chick worked many years in real estate and construction. In 1970, she decided to return to school to pursue a degree in accounting. She graduated from U of M Flint in 1974 with a bachelor's degree in business and economics. That same year, the family moved to Columbia, Maryland while her husband pursued a Paralegal Degree from Antioch School of Law. She worked in Washington D.C. for Cafritz Company, a major commercial accounting firm until the family returned to Flint in mid 1976. She then began working for the City of Flint in the treasurer's department until 1977 when she received a position with General Motors where she retired from in 1992.

Chick loved God and was a member of Exciting Family Faith Outreach Center and Liberty Christian Outreach for years, always working in the financial office. She also worked as an independent income tax preparer for many years.

Judith Ann Nolden "Chick Jones" leaves to cherish her memory: son, Anthony Cobbin; grandkids, Tiona (Billie) Southall, Darnell Jones, Anthony Torns, Toni Cobbin, Jamar McKenzie, Sam Dupree, Nikia Conner; nephews, Vanthony McMullan, and Eugene Pharms; nieces, Shirletta Murray, Lanita Murray-Marion, Rhea Gayle Jones, and Darlene DeShazor; 12 great-grandkids; 16 great-nieces & nephews; 12 great-great-nieces and nephews including special great-great-niece, Zahiare Mitchell; a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, Ruth Morris, Doris Smiley, Anne Metcalfe, Deborah Millings, Denise Royster, Earley Luster, Berston Sensational Seniors Exercise Class, Deborah Brooks, Deshon Dixon and Berston Stepper, Delois Jackson.

The Family would like to express special thanks to Kalizjah Garvins, Tiara Murray, Jacquetta Jones, Ruth Morris, Jamar McKenzie, Dr. Vanthony McMullan, Lanita Murray Marion, Shirletta Murray, Micah Southall, Tiona Southall, The Hawkins, Pippen and Winfrey Family. Judith was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Sokita Nolden, 2 sons, Bryant W. Nolden and Corey W. Nolden; grandson, Terrill Jones; parents, Willie Belle and Soloman Jones; brothers, William Jones and Harold Murray Jr.; sisters, Shirley Murray, Lucille McMullan; brother-in-law, Walter McMullan; sister-in-law, Earlene Deshazor; nephews, Harold Murray, Otto Scrubby Brown, and Walter McMullan Jr.; and niece, Roxanne Pringle.
