PEACHLAND – On Thursday, November 20, 2025, Mrs. Cornelia Anne Gaddy Caudle, 84, passed away peacefully at Stanly Manor in Albemarle to be with her Heavenly Father.
Funeral services will be 2:30PM, Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at First United Methodist Church, Wadesboro. Interment will follow in Peachland Cemetery.
The family will greet friends at the church on Tuesday from 1:00 PM until 2:30 PM in the parlor and other times at the home.
Cornelia was born November 21, 1940, in Anson County, NC and was a daughter of the late Mary Neal Brower Gaddy and the late Wade Hampton Gaddy. She had one brother, Wade Hampton Gaddy, Jr. who preceded her in death in 1947.
She was a 1959 graduate of Wadesboro High School and was a 1962 graduate of Wingate College with an Associate of Art’s Degree. While at Wingate, shew as a member of Phi Theta Kappa and served as a Marshall.
Following graduation from Wingate, she attended and graduated from Pfeiffer College with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education. She later earned a master’s degree in reading education from Appalachian State University.
Teaching was Cornelia’s love and she dedicated 38 years of her life to elementary education in Union and Anson Counties. Her teaching career would include Marshville Elementary School, Polkton Elementary School, Morven Elementary School, Central Elementary School, Lilesville Elementary School, Wadesboro Elementary School, and Peachland Polkton Elementary School, where she retired.
Cornelia was recognized four times by former students in Who’s Who in America’s Teachers.
In 1961, she married William Nelson Caudle and together they shared 48 years of marriage until his death in 2009. Cornelia and Nelson were blessed with three children, Jeff, Lisa and Marty.
Cornelia’s life included her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and students from all walks of life. She dearly loved them all with all her heart.
Those who are left to cherish her memory are her children, Jeff Caudle (Mickey) of Blowing Rock, Lisa Stephens (Charlie) of Mt. Gilead, and Marty Caudle (Amy) of Peachland; her grandchildren, Blake Mitchell (Ashley), Elizabeth Anne Mitchell Kadar (Kenny), Ashton Caudle Axelson (Woody), Savannah Caudle, and , James Caudle, and Raven Caudle and their mother, Christy, and her great-grandchildren, Austin and Anders Mitchell, Huxley, Sloane, Reef Kadar.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Boys and Girls Homes of North Carolina, 400 Flemington Dr, Lake Waccamaw, NC 28450.
