Cory DeShawn Brooks, born February 4, 2008 - Passed away May 22, 2025, at the age of 17, leaving behind cherished memories and a life filled with promise.
Cory was a beloved son to his mother, Shondelle Monique Brooks Flournory, who loved him deeply and endlessly. As the youngest, Cory shared an especially close bond with his mother, always finding comfort, joy, and strength in their relationship. Their connection was filled with love, laughter, and an unbreakable understanding.
Cory was a dedicated JAG student who dreamed of becoming an entrepreneur, driven by a passion for creating and building something meaningful. His first business venture, "GLA" (Girls Love Athletes), showcased his innovative mindset and determination to turn ideas into reality. He launched his T-shirt business, using his creativity to bring his designs to life and share his vision with the world. Cory embraced challenges with optimism and was always looking for ways to make an impact.
Beyond his ambitions, Cory had a deep love for cars, fashion, and sports, playing Little League baseball and football for Brame Middle School with enthusiasm and commitment. Most of all, Cory's heart was with his family. He shared an unbreakable bond with his three older brothers, Brian Flournory, Christopher Flournory, and TyJun Brooks, his older cousin, Cortez and his three sisters, J'Vonia Stewart, Yasmine Johnson, and Journey Williams, who all meant everything to him growing up. His grandmothers, Annie Brooks (MoMo), Ron (PawPaw), and grandmother Debra Williams held a special place in his heart, shaping his life with wisdom, love, and unwavering support. He also shared a close relationship with his Aunt LaTasha Brooks Hamilton (TeeTee) and Uncle Cal Hamilton, who supported him throughout his journey.
Cory's infectious laughter and constant jokes filled the lives of those around him with happiness. No matter the moment, he always found a way to bring a smile to someone's face. His joy was his gift, and his absence leaves a void that can never truly be filled. He also had a special place in his heart for children, always showing kindness and warmth in ways that left lasting impressions.
In recent years, Cory had begun to explore his skills in the kitchen, trying his hand at different dishes, but his favorite meal remained simple and satisfying--chicken tenders. Whether cooking or laughing with loved ones, Cory found joy in the little things, making every moment special. And in everything he did, his favorite color, orange, reflected his energy, excitement, and love for life.
One of his favorite movies was Paid in Full, a story of ambition, loyalty, and overcoming adversity--qualities that resonated deeply with Cory's own drive and vision for success. He also found joy in music, listening to it all the time, and immersing himself in its rhythms and emotions. When it came to gaming, Cory loved playing GTA, diving into the open-world adventure and the thrill of competition.
Cory was a student at Alexandria High School, where he continued to develop his passions and dreams. He was especially fond of Ms. Pringle, a teacher who made a lasting impact on him, encouraging him to embrace his ambitions and always strive for greatness.
Cory is preceded in death by his father, Cornelius L. Williams, as well as his uncle's Demetrice Wadsworth and Dedrick Frazier. He is survived by his loving close cousins - Brittney Viree, Chelsea Brooks, Brandon Wadsworth, Amarie Viree, Wornie Viree and Amyri Viree and Great Aunts Wilma Viree and Brenda Constan and uncle, who will continue to carry his memory forward with love and strength.
Though gone too soon, Cory's impact was immeasurable. His family and friends will forever cherish the moments they shared with him, holding his memory close to their hearts.
Please keep the family in prayer.
