She married the love of her life, Marvin Black, Sr, on December 2, 1989 and three beautiful children were born to this union.
She received her education from Central High School. She held various positions throughout her life, always known for her dedication, kindness, and strong work ethic. A dependable and compassionate individual, she consistently went above and beyond to help others. For much of her life, she maintained multiple jobs to support her family, ultimately ending long-term employment with the Kansas City School District, where she worked faithfully for over 20 years before retiring due to health reasons.
Cotenzie was preceded in death by Grandmother – Nora Mae Cowan, Grandparents Jewel Lee Briscoe and Lee Briscoe, One brother Calvin Fortenberry and one sister – Beverly Ann Briscoe Clark.
She leaves to cherish her memories a loving and devoted husband, Marvin Black, Sr., one son (twin) Marvin Black, Jr. two daughters, Jasmine Black and (twin) Makayla (Travis) Richter all of Kansas City, MO. One grandson, Cayden James Richter and one granddaughter, Olivia Rose Richter; two goddaughters, Nevaeh and Sylvia Shaw; one brother, Jerry (Anita) Briscoe of Searcy, AR; four sisters, Ernestine (Darrell) Winston of West Helena, AR, Josephine Dupree, Sebrina Briscoe, and Reorelo Briscoe all of Kansas City, MO; three sister-In- Laws, Jannella Jones, Lorraine Black and Tango Black and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, June 20, 2025, 11:00am at Watkins Heritage Chapel. Private Disposition. Visitation 10:00am-11:00am at the chapel. Arrangements entrusted to Lawrence A.
