Craig Paul Akin, a resident of Shelby Township and formerly of Auburn Hills, passed away peacefully on April 26, 2025, at the age of 66.
Born in Detroit, Michigan, on December 15, 1958, Craig was a 1977 graduate of Warren High School and dedicated his life to building his own business, Craig's Signs. Craig poured his passion and skill in hand painted colorful advertising signs for the community. Craig took great pride in his craftsmanship, continuing a tradition of hard work and artistry throughout the many decades of his career.
When he wasn't creating signs, Craig could often be found outdoors, taking on landscape projects or spending time on his beloved tractor. He took pride in caring for his beautiful home. A lifelong animal lover, Craig cherished the companionship of his pet dogs, Sunny, Coney, Heidi, Newton, Bo, Alice, Reba, Little Sprout, Chili, Blue, Cadbury, Snickers, Fiona, Watson, Stella, and Levi, who were always by his side. Craig also loved wildlife, and he fed and cared for his many furry friends including 3 rescue cats.
On December 19, 1999, Craig married the love of his life, Sharon, at Greenfield Village in Dearborn, Michigan. Together, they shared many happy years of marriage.
Craig is survived by his devoted wife, Sharon Akin, and their cherished dogs.
Funeral services for Craig will be private.
