Craig Allen Aney, 67, of Ferrysburg, Michigan, ran into the arms of Jesus on Monday, April 22, 2024. Born in Grand Rapids on October 4, 1956, Craig's life was a tapestry woven with the threads of family, bowling strikes, and the open road. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, always ready with a warm smile and a story about his favorite Nascar driver, Mark Martin, or a thrilling motorcycle adventure. Craig possessed a musical soul. He loved to sing in church, raising his voice in praise, and enjoyed playing the coronet, ukulele, and strumming a guitar. He was an avid camper, always on the lookout for the next great adventure, whether it was pitching a tent under the stars or finding a unique and affordable Airbnb. Craig returned to school, earning his diploma from Spring Lake High School. He was a dedicated worker, retiring from the manufacturing industry. After retirement, he continued to serve his community, taking on part-time custodial work at a Catholic school and a warehouse. Family was paramount to Craig. He was a constant presence at his children's choir concerts, band concerts, plays, and sporting events, his unwavering support a pillar for them. In his younger years, Craig and his wife, Rene, enjoyed working on wood projects together. A testament to his faith and commitment to others, Craig would often take his young daughter to nursing homes. She would sing, his mother would play the piano, and Craig would share words of inspiration. Over the years, he was active in the church community, serving in children's ministry, volunteering at the Muskegon Rescue Mission, working as a Prayer Partner of WTLJ, and faithfully attending the Unity Festival. In his free time, he enjoyed spending time on the lake, fishing and boating, touring lighthouses, flying his drone, and capturing stunning sunset pictures of Lake Michigan.
SURVIVORS
He is survived by his loving wife, Rene; children, Amber (Bill) Piechowski, Melissa Aney, Joshua Aney, Christin Aney, and Jeremiah Aney; grandchildren, Liam Piechowski and Oshian Aney; siblings, and extended family. Craig was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Edith (Lintjer) Aney, and his infant daughter, Kali Elizabeth Aney.
SERVICE
A celebration of Craig's life will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2024, at Harvest Church, 225 E. Exchange in Spring Lake, Michigan. Visitation with the family will begin at 10:00 AM, followed by a service at 10:45 AM. A luncheon will be held after the service, where favorite memories of a life well-lived can be shared. A private interment will take place at Sullivan Township Cemetery.
