Craig Coffman passed Sunday, August 7, 2022, surrounded by his loving family, following a year-long battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. He was 68 years old and died at home, where he could view the Chesapeake Bay waterways that had sustained his spirit and brought him joy.
Throughout his life, Craig Coffman could never quite believe his good luck.
He built a big life filled with family he cherished, lifelong friends he thoroughly enjoyed and a rewarding career that took him all over the world and made so much possible. And yet, despite his every success, Craig never really stopped seeing himself as the boy next door from Wichita. He was equally fascinated and delighted by the way things turned out, a beautiful life that truly exceeded his every expectation.
Craig was right, he was lucky, and to know him made us all lucky too. Craig's vibrant personality and the ability to tell a great story made him a fun friend to many. He discovered a deep and lasting love for the open water spending as much time as possible boating with family and friends aboard the Mrs. Sippy Queen exploring the Chesapeake Bay.
Born January 22, 1954 to high school sweethearts Allen and Barbara (Hammond) Coffman (pre-deceased) he was raised in Wichita, Kansas where he was active in multiple sports and the Boy Scouts, earning the distinguished title of Eagle Scout. Craig was a beloved brother to Denise Lipsey (Craig Lipsey). He graduated from Wichita State University and always remained an avid Shocker fan. His career took him to both Philadelphia and Washington, DC, quickly making him a committed fan of the Phillies and Washington Redskins (he wasn't fond of the name change and he let you know it).
At the time of his death, Craig was Head of Clinical Development Operations for CSL Behring, capping a long and successful career in the biopharmaceutical industry where his work helped bring new lifesaving medicines to patients in need.
His greatest joy in life was his family beginning with Sue (Little), his Mrs. Sippy Queen and the center of his life. Together, they had many adventures, always with daughter Alison and son Chase at the center of everything. Later, Craig would welcome a son-in-law Kyle Henderson and Charleigh, a granddaughter he adored.
The family asks that donations be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and the American Red Cross, but even more important the family urges everyone to consider giving blood and becoming a stem cell or bone marrow donor (bethematch.org) in Craig's memory.
The family will receive their relatives and friends at the Varcoe-Thomas Funeral Home, 344 North Main Street, Doylestown, PA 18901 on Thursday, August 11, 2022 from 5:00-8:00 pm with a service to be held during this time period.
Private cremation will follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts to:
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, 100 N. 20th Street, Philadelphia, PA 19102 www.givenow.lls.org
Be the Match (an organization that helps with stem cell and bone marrow donation) www.bethematch.org, or the
American Red Cross (give blood or donate) www.redcross.org would be appreciated.

Dear Sue, Ali and Chase,

I worked with Craig in the 1980s and he was one of the kindest, fun people I have ever met. Craig was also a great boss. The best. He gladly mentored me when I knew little and thus contributed greatly to my ability to have a career.

I was just today thinking about dropping Craig an email, to once again thank him for being a great boss and mentor, when I learned of his passing. I know that Craig loved you all so very much, and was so proud of Ali and Chase. The last time I spoke with Craig he emailed me a beautiful picture of all of you (and dogs) by a body of water. That was a few years back, when I called Craig then to thank him for being a great boss and mentor. 40 years of gratitude for a great man.

I will always cherish my memories of working with Craig. It was a blast. And am so sorry to learn, belatedly, of your tremendous loss. Bless you all and my deepest sympathy.

Sue and family, my deep sympathy extended to you in Craig's passing. I loved Craig and loved being with him, a Marshall Thunderbird junior high and Wichita North High Redskin school friend. We were in boy scouts together, Philmont scout camp, and work summer jobs of painting and mowing on occasion. The Coffman family was welcoming, generous and kind. I got to go camping with them a few times and enjoyed hanging out in their recreation garage playing ping pong, enjoying sodas from their well stocked refrigerator. Craig continued this legacy and became even more winsome in friendships as he aged. His passing leaves a big void in so many lives, he is greatly missed and all his high school friends grieve his passing. You are in the thoughts and prayers of many.

Over 20+ years in the clinical trials industry, Craig stands out as one of the kindest, most genuine people I have ever met. There are not enough human beings like him on this earth, and he will be missed very very much. My heart goes out to Craig's family.

Dear Sue, Alison and Chase,

My deepest sympathies for your loss! Craig and I worked together at Essential and he was one in a million. He loved you all and shared so many stories of trips to Belize and of baseball with Chase. He was a great industry colleague and friend who always made those around him feel better when he was present. I was blessed to know him and his loving spirit. May God bring you peace and comfort and turn your pain to warmth knowing he will always be with you.

I am so sorry for your loss. Craig was a great guy. Every now and then, we cross paths with people who play an important role in our lives. Craig is one of those people for me. Although we only coached together for a short time, I loved spending time with him. His calm demeanor and contagious smile always reminded me to focus on the good things in life.He will be missed by many.
