In Loving Memory of David S. Doettger

"If you heard the laughter-or the music-you knew Dave was home."

David S. Doettger, of Chalfont, PA, passed away at his home on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at the age of 61.

Born in Cheltenham Township, David spent his life in Bucks County where he built not only a career, but also a reputation as someone you couldn't forget. He had the loudest laugh in the room, the kind of laugh that drew people in and made them feel at ease. He had a gift for conversation-whether talking about life, work, or just the small things that mattered in the moment, Dave always left you feeling heard and connected.

He worked as a tile installer with his family business, B. Doettger & Son of Warminster, PA, where his craftsmanship and strong work ethic became part of his legacy. But more than anything, Dave's true work was poured into the people he loved.

Family and friendship were at the center of his world. His home was a place of warmth and welcome, where bonfires glowed late into the night, Uno games stretched into hours of laughter, and friends became family. On Saturday afternoons, his neighbors knew Dave was around when music poured out of the house and filled the streets-a soundtrack to countless memories made with his children and grandchildren. He lived fully, loved deeply, and made joy an everyday practice.

He was the beloved husband of Cynthia Doettger; the devoted father of Corry Field and her husband, Cody, and Matthew Doettger and his fiancé, Olivia Toth; and the proud grandfather of Ava, Charli, Wyatt, Brody, and Claire, who brought endless happiness to his days. David was the son of Judith (Wood) Doettger and the late Bernhard Doettger; and the brother of William Doettger and his wife, Christa, and Kurt Doettger. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate his life on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at Varcoe-Thomas Funeral Home, 344 North Main Street, Doylestown, PA 18901. Visitation will be held from 10:00–11:00 a.m., with a service beginning at 11:00 a.m.

Cremation services were private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in David's name may be made to the Bucks County SPCA, PO Box 277, Lahaska, PA 18931 or at https://buckscountyspca.org/donate/.
