Craig G. “Bird” Forrest, 66, of Ocala, Florida, passed away on July 23, 2025, following a tragic hit-and-run accident.

Craig was born in Three Rivers, Michigan, and raised in Florida. He graduated from Forest High School, where he proudly served as Senior Class President. A talented craftsman, Craig worked for many years as a carpenter before retiring.

He spent the majority of his adult life in St. Augustine, Florida, where he built a life full of friendships and good memories. He had recently returned to Ocala to be closer to family.

Known by many as “Bird,” Craig was never one to hold back—he spoke his mind, made people laugh, and left a lasting impression wherever he went. He loved fishing, playing golf, rooting for his Florida Gators, and catching up with lifelong friends.

Craig was a man of faith and attended the Episcopal church. More than anything, he cherished his role as “Grandpa” to his grandchildren and enjoyed every moment spent with family and friends.

Craig was previously married and is survived by his son, William Forrest (Tonya); his grandchildren Emalynn, Ava, Delainey, and Delilah Forrest; his brother Christopher Forrest (Kathy); and his sister Sharon Maguire. He was preceded in death by his parents, Irv Forrest and Jean Bedingfield (Seach).

A memorial service will take place on Saturday, August 23, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. at Countryside Funeral Home (9185 NE 21st Ave, Anthony, FL 32617). With a celebration of life immediately following at The Barn – Event Center (3410 NE 70th Street, Ocala, FL 34479).

Craig will be cremated, per his wishes.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you bring a side dish to share during the celebration of life, as we gather to share memories and celebrate the life of a man who was truly one of a kind.

If you have any photos of Craig, or a message you would have shared with him given one more moment, we welcome you to send them to [email protected]. These memories and words mean so much to our family and will be cherished as we remember and honor him.
