Obituary of Craig Pangburn
GLENVILLE –
Craig Pangburn, 70, of Glenville, passed away on September 8, 2024 after a short and courageous battle with brain cancer.
Born in Schenectady, NY on March 19, 1954, he grew up in Mariaville and graduated from Schalmont High School. Craig received his B.S. in Music Education from Wagner College, where he was on the soccer and track teams, and his Masters degree from SUNY Albany. During his 31-year career in education with the Greater Amsterdam School District, he worked as a band teacher and also served as a coach for both varsity football and track and field. There are truly no words to describe how many lives Craig touched as "Mr./Coach Pangburn" in his music classroom and on the field.
In addition to teaching, Craig was extremely active in the community and knew people everywhere he went. He was a founding member of the U.S. Water Ski Show Team, being involved for over 45 years, and a Mariaville volunteer firefighter. His favorite pastimes were hunting, golfing, and spending time with family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Marty (McCane) Pangburn, daughter Kara Pangburn (Ben Richards), son Ryan Pangburn (Erika), granddaughter Hannah, grandson Colin, mother Josephine Pangburn, and brother Terry Pangburn (Patty). He was predeceased by his father, William W. Pangburn.
In lieu of a wake, friends and loved ones are welcome to drop in and pay their respects from 1-4PM on Saturday, September 14, 2024 in the Brink Hall at the First Reformed Church of Scotia, .
