Craig Scott Powell, 69, of Hartshorne, Oklahoma, passed away on Friday, October 17, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
The family will greet friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, October 20, 2025, at the Jones-Harkins Funeral Home Chapel. Cremation will follow.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, also at the Jones-Harkins Funeral Home Chapel, with Bain Durant officiating.
Honorary pallbearers include Jimmie Paxton, Jerry Beauchamp, Dennis Peace, Kenneth Morris, Delbert Derryberry, Travis Williams, and Johnny Sokolosky.
Craig was born on December 2, 1955, in Los Angeles, California, to Ray Albert Powell and Connie Mae (Bloxham) Powell. He married the love of his life, Charlotte Derryberry, on October 1, 1982, in Wilburton, Oklahoma.
A proud graduate of Wilburton High School, Class of 1974, Craig spent most of his career working in the oil and gas industry, where he held several positions over the years. He loved the outdoors-whether hunting, fishing, golfing, camping at the lake, or simply relaxing on the porch watching the deer wander by.
Craig also had a great love for sports. He rarely missed a game and could often be found calling family or friends while watching football or softball to talk about the plays and the calls being made-whether he agreed with them or not. His enthusiasm and humor made every conversation lively and fun.
Craig was known for his big heart, quick wit, and generous spirit, as well as for his ornery sense of humor that never failed to bring a smile to those around him. He was saved and baptized at Grace Country Cowboy Church, where his faith brought him peace and strength.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Charlotte (Derryberry) Powell; children: Brooke Powell, Logan Powell and wife, Laura, and Jennifer Morris; grandchildren: Braden Miller, Bryson Miller, Braleigh Miller, Lakyn Powell, Laryn Powell, and Lexyn Powell; sister, Paula Ellerbe and husband, Dale; nephews: Brian Menasco, Chance Menasco, and Travis Powell and wife, Amy; aunts and uncles: Mitzi and Frank Bernardi, and Bud and Sandy Bloxham; cousins: Melissa Sturgeon, and Tina Holson and husband, Chris; along with many other beloved family members and a host of friends.
Craig was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Connie (Bloxham) Powell, and his brother, Frank Powell.
Craig will be remembered for his kindness, humor, and love of family-a man whose presence filled every room and whose memory will forever fill their hearts.
