Craig Schmid Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Kibbey-Fishburn Funeral Home & Crematory on Feb. 12, 2026.
Craig Schmid passed away peacefully on February 4, 2026. He was born on December 27, 1953, in Chappell, Nebraska, to Albert and Nora Schmid. Though Nebraska was his beginning, Craig was a Lovelander through and through.

Craig is survived by his beloved wife, Debbie; his sons, Chris and Jay (wife Mystic); and his cherished grandchildren: Kryctil, Sophia, Jaxon, Zailia, Lily, Meta, and Kloi. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Susie; nephews Ryan (wife Christie and their sons) and Jeff (wife Megan and their children); his brother Larry (wife Cindy and their children and grandchildren); and his brother Mark (wife Linda and their children and grandchildren). Craig also deeply loved his "fur kids" Tina, Joey, Seajay, Missy, and Maddie.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Nora, and his brother, Mike.

Craig lived life less ordinary-always choosing adventure over conventional. He was the ultimate outdoorsman and sportsman. Fishing year-round, camping, and anything outdoors were his passions. He played baseball, softball, bowling, darts, and shuffleboard, and he never missed cheering on his favorite teams: the Broncos, Avalanche, Rockies, Nuggets, and Little League baseball. Above all, he was a constant presence at family sporting events, always showing his unwavering support.

Craig was employed by Stewart & Associates for more than 35 years. After retiring, he treasured Thursday coffee gatherings with Jay, Steve, Mike, Larry, and Bruce. He later worked for Thompson School District for 11 years and frequently visited Mountain View High School to catch up with his coworkers.

A lifelong Lovelander, Craig attended Loveland schools and graduated from Loveland High School in 1972. He proudly attended every class reunion and maintained many lifelong friendships, including Paul, Greg, Lance, Randy, Steve, and many others.

To his wife, Craig was more than a husband-he was her best friend and life partner. His love, loyalty, and adventurous spirit will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
