Craig Wells passed away peacefully on Tuesday January 9, 2024. He was born on January 16, 1951, to Mary and Willie Lee Wells Sr. in Newark, New Jersey. He grew up with his two siblings, older brother Willie and younger sister Angela. He had attended and graduated from Barringer high school. He had enlisted in the United States Army as MP, Military Police and afterward, he retired early to focus on family.
Selflessness and generosity were two traits that highlighted Craig's personality. He was a person who never hesitated to help people out. He always made time to show up for everyone, simply to brighten their day. He was kind and compassionate, loved his entire family, despite their quirks and dysfunction. They were all very important to him. He made a point to make each family member that he had encountered feel important and special. He worried about them, rooted for them, protected them, resented them, forgave them, and always kept on loving them. When he spoke in anger, he would often be the first to apologize and to try to heal what was broken. Anyone that truly knew him knew he had a big heart. He would show up when it mattered, had your back, gave to those in need, and would defend and stand up for his loved ones should the need for it arise. He was strong-willed and stubborn to a fault, but also, he was very witty, smart, and funny. Those traits helped define who he was and provided the strength he undoubtedly needed to help him deal with his life's challenges.
Craig was preceded in death by his parents Willie Wells Sr., and Mary Smith Wells. He leaves behind his brother Willie Lee Wells Jr., sister Angela Marie Wells Travis, and nephew Stanley Lavelle Molton. Craig was a beautiful person inside and out. He cared so deeply for the people around him. He was kind, passionate, and a thoughtful soul who found great purpose in sharing. He will be missed and remembered by the many lives he touched. Craig, you have fought the good fight, you have finished the race, you have kept the faith. (2 Timothy 4:7) We will always love and miss you, until we can meet again.
