Creed Wells, 83, of Shelbyville passed away Wednesday, October 8, 2025 at his residence.
Born on July 29, 1942, in Shelby County, he was the son of James William Harrison Wells and Mabel Edna (Larkey) Wells. He married Norma Jean (New) Wells on August 8, 1964, and she survives.
Other survivors include 3 children- Robin (David) Benefiel of Shelbyville, Angela (Ronald) Glenn of Shelbyville, Shannon (Travis)
Walsman of Shelbyville; 6 siblings- Alice Spurling, Sandra Brown, James Wells, Phyllis Stevens, Dale Wells, Millie Havens; 7 grandchildren- Ashley, Miranda, Ryan, Dylan, Riley, Magen, Macaylee and 10 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Harrison Eugene Wells, and granddaughter Magen Cheyenne Benefiel.
Creed had lived in this area most of his lifetime and worked for Allison Gas Turbine for 30 years and also for Rush/Shelby Electric, Crop Productions, and in his earlier years Compton's Cow Palace. He was a US Marine Corps veteran serving from 1959-1964.
Creed loved his family, and was quick to help when needed. He was an avid IU Basketball fan and enjoyed watching Nascar. In his younger years he enjoyed fishing, camping, hunting and enjoyed racing stock cars with his close friends. He will be greatly missed by his family.
Funeral services will be 1:00pm, Monday, October 13, 2025 at Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home, 437 Amos Road with Pastor James Thurman officiating. Visitation will be Monday morning from 11:00 am until 1:00pm. Burial will be in Van Pelt Cemetery with military rights conducted by the American Legion.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Wounded Warrior Foundation in care of the funeral home.
