Crystal Ann McCombs, beloved granddaughter of John and Marlene McCombs, age 46, of Albia, IA, passed away on Friday, March 7, 2025, at her home.
Crystal was born on September 16, 1978, in San Jose, CA, to Jim and Mary (Seesing) McCombs. She grew up attending school and graduated from Gunderson High School in San Jose with the class of 1993. She was united in marriage to Patrick Vaughn and to this union, 2 children were born, Mitchell and Katelin. Patrick preceded Crystal in death. Crystal then spent several years with her devoted companion, Matt Wilt, and his children, Wyatt and Johnathan.
Crystal was a homemaker, staying at home to raise her children. She later went to work as a guard at Cargill. She loved art and was very talented at drawing. She enjoyed being outdoors and growing flowers, especially roses and hydrangeas. She also enjoyed decorating for holidays with Christmas and Halloween being her favorite. She had a love for horses and anything to do with angels and cherubs. Above all else, Crystal's true joy in life was spending time with her family and friends.
Crystal is survived by her children, Mitchell and Katelin Vaughn and Wyatt and Johnathan Wilt; and 2 brothers, Josh and Kenny McCombs. Crystal is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins, and good friends.
She is preceded in death by her father, Jim McCombs; her mother, Mary McCombs; and husband, Patrick Vaughn.
Per Crystal's wishes, her body has been cremated. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 22, 2025, at Cuba Cemetery in Monroe County, with Pastor Ryan Smith officiating.
An open memorial has been established to the family.
