"Coach" Cula William Jackson was born on September 10, 1949 in Dublin, GA to his parents, Cula D. and Helen T. Jackson. "Coach Jackson" received his education at Oconee High School, Dublin, Georgia and St. Johnsbury Academy, St. Johnsbury, Vermont. He attended Morehouse College, graduated Cum Laude from Edward Waters College with a degree in Sociology, graduate work at Florida A & M University, and Nova Southeastern.
"Coach" Jackson was a dedicated teacher, Coach, and mentor. He taught and coached at Northwestern Junior High, William M. Raines Senior High, Highlands Middle School, Duval Regional Juvenile Detention Center, and was head girls basketball and track coach at Stanton College Preparatory School. As an official, "Coach" Jackson was a member of SABO, 2 years, FLA-GA officials Assn. 1972-81, and Bob Hayes Officiates Association. On March 16, 2017, he was inducted into the 13th Annual Bob Hayes Hall of Fame. "Coach Jackson" was a life member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Free and Accepted Masons PHA, FACA, NAACP, AFCA, Jacksonville Retired Coaches and Official Association.
Coach Jackson served God as a faithful Member of Greater Grant Memorial African Methodist Episcopal Church. He served on the Board of Stewards, as a member of the Sons of Allen, and a member of the Greater Grant Male Choir.
"Coach" Cula William Jackson went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 2, 2024 and was preceded in death by his father, Mr. Cula D. Jackson; mother, Mrs. Helen T. Hooks; and the The Reverend H. Hollis Hooks.
"Coach" Cula William Jackson leaves memories to be cherished by his loving and devoted wife, Herushy Jackson; sons, Cula D. Jackson, Harold T. Thomas (Dyneshia); daughters, Carla Thomas, Terrainie Thomas; grandchildren, Britni Parks, Vinecia Johnson, Khalin Nesbitt (Ronald), Halexis Thomas, Charles Tillman III, Tamirat Davis; great grandchildren, Joshua Myrick, Rhaya Ross, Brintin Nesbitt, Roman Nesbitt, Braelon Johnson, Elijah Richberg, Emiah Drayton; Godchildren, Diamon Mann, Donavon Mann; sisters in law, Sandra Cross, Charleen Bennett (Alvin); brothers in law, Jerry Durden (Juanita), Charlie Williams (Lessie); Cousins, Karl Merritt (Denise) of North Carolina, Bernard Anderson, Anita Anderson, Vanessa Jackson Brooks of Connecticut; long time friends, Alphonso X. West, "Coach" Lewis James, and a host of other relatives and friends.

It was a pleasure and a great honor meeting you nearly 20 years ago at Raines High. Coach Jackson was an awesome Track coach, he was also funny and always wanted student /athletes to strive for the best. R. I. P. Coach Jackson
