Dr. Curry Watkins Davis, Jr., 80, of Franklin, Ky., died on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at The Medical Center in Bowling Green, Ky.
Curry was born on July 27, 1945, to Curry Watkins Davis, Sr., and Nell Davis of Childersburg, Ala. He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of California Santa Barbara, served his country in the Air Force, and earned both a Master of Divinity and Doctorate of Theology from Columbia Theological Seminary in Decatur, Ga. Following in his father’s footsteps, Curry was ordained as a minister in the Presbyterian Church U.S.A. and pastored congregations in Ala., Ga., Ky., Fla. and Tenn.
A lifelong learner with a heart for others, Curry served as past director of Franklin-Simpson Good Samaritan, current president of Franklin Ministerial Association, and current board president for Live the Proof. He also volunteered with Habitat for Humanity and was a member of the Western Kentucky Presbytery and Simpson County Democratic Party. Curry enjoyed reading, gardening, and working on the farm, and he was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.
Curry is survived by his spouse of 30 years, Marcella Whitfield Davis; four children, Fletcher Davis of Rome, Ga., Vivian Davis of Rome, Ga., Zach Adamson (Elizabeth) of Bowling Green, Ky. and Max DeCrow (Adam) of Arlington, Tenn.; five grandchildren, Rebekah Adamson, Lillie Adamson, Thea Chesley, Maddox DeCrow and Emmalynn DeCrow; two sisters, Gwen Sloop and Grace Naze; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 16, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Franklin Presbyterian Church, 201 N. College Street in Franklin, Ky. Visitation will take place at the church, from 9:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. on Thursday.
