Curt Newell Bero

Curt Newell Bero died August 27, 2025, at his home in McLean, VA. He died after a year-long

battle with ALS at the age of 71. Upon his graduation from Norwich University, Northfield, VT,

in 1975, Curt was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant, Medical Service Corps, US Army. He

went on to serve with the Second Infantry Division, DMZ, South Korea, and later at the US Army

Hospital, Berlin Brigade, Berlin, Germany. Following his Army retirement, he accepted a federal

appointment working for the Missile Defense Agency, Huntsville, AL. He retired from federal

service as a member of the Science and Technology Directorate, Department of Homeland

Security, in 2018. He is survived by his loving wife, Jane Hyunju Bero, McLean VA, and his sister

Kim Bero, Kissimmee, FL.
