Curtis Lee Butler, Sr. was born on September 19, 1938, in Millsap, Texas and passed away on July 13, 2025.

Curtis married his high school sweetheart, Peggy, on September 19, 1958, on his 20th birthday. They shared 66 wonderful years and had three children together.

He was a machinist at Bell Helicopter and retired in 1998 after 33 years. He was an ordained minister and always believed his ministry was to help others. After giving his life to Lord in 1972, he never looked back and served the Lord the rest of his life. He was always involved in many church activities including being a Deacon, song leader, Sunday school teacher, choir member, Royal Ranger leader, Elder, bible study teacher and even a janitor when needed. He dedicated his life to the Lord and helping others. He and Peggy helped missionaries to the Navajo people in New Mexico and an orphanage in Mexico by delivering many truckloads of clothes, toys, food and furniture for distribution.

Curtis played the guitar and loved to sing. He formed a singing group and for many years, traveled around to local churches and other venues sharing the Lord with others through song. He was a man of many talents including writing songs and poems. He loved sharing stories and talking about the Lord with others. He was a Texas Rangers fan and loved telling jokes. For many years, he enjoyed fishing and hunting. One of his favorite things was an annual hunting trip to Terlingua.

He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a champion of others and a friend to many. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all who knew him.

Curtis is survived by his wife, Peggy Butler; his son, Curtis Butler, Jr. and wife Debbie; his daughter, LaDonna Butler; his grandchildren, Joe Butler and wife, Lily; Anthony Butler and wife Crystal, Christy Butler and Casey Butler; his great grandchildren, Stewart, Nick, Jake & Lucy, brother Robert Butler; and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his son, Toby Butler; daughter-in-law, Tammy Butler; his parents, Bert & Vera Butler; and brothers, Cecil Butler, Charles Butler & Harold Butler.
