Curtis was born on the 29th of June, 1984, in Ogden, Utah. He immediately became part of a military family and was no stranger to moves (at least 10 while he lived at home) and new schools and friends. Curtis was always at his father's side and grew to love many of the same things: airplanes, fast cars, camping, fire, and guns (His passion for hunting and fishing were gifts from time spent with his grandparents and uncles). Curtis was a hard worker from an early age, though somewhat accident-prone; it's impossible to count the stitches. He was mowing lawns, walking dogs, and delivering papers from age eight and caught the entrepreneur bug; he liked having his own money; other jobs included, grocery store bagger, Krispie Kreme Donuts, landscaping, installing window treatments, packager and shift manager at Melaluca, salesman at the Gun Shop, and owner of Madison Armory.
Called in 2003 to serve a full-time Spanish-speaking mission in Tempe, Arizona, Curtis served faithfully, though health concerns required him to return home early. Curtis attended BYU-Idaho and completed three years towards a degree in business management before the call of the outdoors drew him away; being immersed in the outdoors was Curtis' therapy for occasional bouts with depression. Counseling with his bishop and constant vigilance by his friend, Ben (who Curtis claimed saved his life) helped him emerge from the darkness stronger.
During a visit to the dentist in 2011, he fell for his hygienist, Laura Anderson, and they were married in 2013. Through the wonders of medicine and the prayers of many, they brought two beautiful children into their family. Laura and the children helped soften Curtis' rough edges, and Curtis loved them completely. His countenance would visibly change when talking about his family; he was happiest being a dad and sharing what he loved with them. He often included the kids in his adventures, and some of Laura and Curtis' first dates were hunting and fishing.
During their early married life, Curtis started building and selling custom rifles to friends and others. This led to the initial opening of a small shop, Madison Armory, on 2nd North. He later made his dream come true of building a larger retail store and indoor shooting range. Curtis was relentless and driven to make Madison a success.
Curtis was active in the Rexburg community and church, serving as primary teacher and priest quorum advisor, and often had fundraisers to help those experiencing difficulties. He was always eager to sponsor youth teams and clubs. A family favorite was to have a Madison Armory float in the 4th of July parade, and he loved to put on a fireworks show for his employees and friends. He had an approachable and likable presence.
Curtis is a son of God, a child of the Covenant, and a Disciple of Christ. We Love and miss him.
He is survived by his wife, Laura Dawn Anderson Eves, and two children. Also surviving are his parents, Royce and Dawn Eves, his siblings Laura Eves Bailey (David), Shelley Eves Bailey (Jim), Allyson Eves Klenk (Jonathon), Patricia Eves Cieslak (Spencer), Ryan Pearce Steadman-Eves (Jason), and Craig R Eves (Sarah).
