Curtis Matthew Laycock, born on October 28, 1996, in Fletcher, North Carolina, passed away tragically at the age of 29 on November 4, 2025, in
Hendersonville, North Carolina.
Curtis was a dedicated employee of Asplundh Tree Expert Co., where he was known for his strong work ethic and commitment to his team. Outside of work, Curtis had a passion for cars, enjoyed the tranquility of fishing, and found joy in gaming. He was a man of varied interests who cherished the simple pleasures of life.
Curtis went to T.C. Roberson High School and was a member of Skyland United Methodist Church.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Edward Mitchell, Sr., Pat Hensley, and Fannie Padgett. Curtis leaves behind a loving family who will forever hold him in their hearts. He is survived by his devoted wife, Sunni Laycock; his mother, Barbara; his father, Edward Mitchell; his mother-in-law, Deborah Harrison; and his father-in-law, James Padgett. He is also survived by his cherished grandparents, Gail "Granny" Green and Dick "Grandpa" (Jan) Laycock.
Curtis was a proud father to his daughters, Sahara and Kasie Force, and his sons, Decota Padgett Franklin and Fynn Laycock. He is also survived by his brothers, Jacob (Shana) Laycock, Richard Laycock, Stephen (Brittanie) Pace, Josh Pruitt, Matthew Hensley, and Christopher (Dana) Padgett. His extended family includes his aunts, Kelly (Jack) Pittman and Mary Hyatt, his uncle Ray Mitchell, as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Curtis was blessed with special friends Max and Harley Price, who were like family to him.
A Memorial Service to honor Curtis's life will be held at Forest Lawn Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at 1:00 PM. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 12:45 PM prior to the service.
Curtis will be remembered for his kind heart, his love for his family, and his zest for life. He touched the lives of many and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
