Dawn Angel VanFleet

Dawn Angel VanFleet, 55, passed away on March 4, 2026, in Conroe, Texas. She was born on July 6, 1970, in Asheville, North Carolina.

Dawn graduated from T.C. Roberson High School in Arden, North Carolina. Earlier in her career, she worked as a phlebotomist, dedicating herself to caring for others before later changing career paths about thirteen years ago. Throughout her life, Dawn was known for her kind and selfless spirit, always placing the needs of those she loved before her own.

She found great joy in life's simple pleasures. Dawn loved reading, gardening, cooking, and spending meaningful time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Her faith in God was an important part of her life and continued to grow stronger each day. She also had a deep love for her pets, Perry, Waverly, and Al who brought her much happiness and companionship.

Dawn is survived by loving her mother, Dawn Garris; her husband, Joe VanFleet; her two daughters: Kayla (Blake) Gates and Morgan (Charlie) Tilton; her stepfather, Johnny Garris; her brothers, Dennis Dettweiler and Danny Dettweiler; her stepsons, Aaron (Lindsay) VanFleet, Schuyler VanFleet, and Ephraim VanFleet; and many extended family members and loved ones who will cherish her memory. She was a proud and devoted grandmother to Waylon, Miles, Hugh, Ezra, and soon to be newest addition, Cole.

Dawn will be remembered for her generous heart, unwavering love for her family, and the quiet strength of her faith. Her kindness and compassion touched the lives of many and will continue to live on through those who knew and loved her.

A service will be held in her memory to celebrate the life she lived and the love she shared with others. Services will take place on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, at LeCompte Johnson Taylor Funeral Home, 1725 Louisville Road, Frankfort, Kentucky 40601. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., with the memorial service immediately following at 6:00 p.m.
